Butler Group extolls virtues of Exalead's Unified Search Technology Platform
December 3, 2007 - Exalead, a global leader of search software for business and the Web, today announced the results of an independent technology audit from respected analyst Butler Group.
In the audit, Butler Group highlights a number of the product's key strengths, such as the use of Exalead's patented navigation system; its ability to search across multiple data sources and its ability to provide desktop, enterprise and web search within a single architecture.
With offices throughout the globe, Butler Group is the IT End User division of Datamonitor Plc and is a leading provider of Information Technology research, analysis, and advice. Founded in 1990, Butler Group is respected throughout the business world for the impartiality and incisiveness of its research and opinion.
Exalead's enterprise solution - exalead one:search - is a search tool that has been designed to evolve organically as the volume of information within organisations continues to grow and their need to search for information changes. "There is a growing need within organisations for effective search capabilities driven both by compliance and litigation risk, and also a need to be able to locate information easier in order to improve productivity and share information throughout the enterprise," explains Butler Group Senior Research Analyst Sue Clarke. "A strength of exalead one:search is its patented Search by Serendipity navigation system, which enables users to search for information in the same way in which they think."
Another strengths of exalead one:search seen by the Butler Group is that all of its solutions utilize the same architecture and technology. Exalead's architecture was designed in house with 64-bit grid computing in mind and makes full use of modern 64-bit multi-core processors, one of the reasons for its high level of scalability. The company has placed its solution firmly in the infrastructure layer, from where it is able to search across multiple data sources.
"exalead one:search is suitable for any organisation that has a requirement for a search capability, whether it is for the enterprise, the desktop, or as a Web search tool," adds Clarke. "Exalead as a company has important differentiators including ease-of-deployment, a business-critical focus, and a single platform for all of its search types, leading to Butler Group certainly believing that it is worthy of a closer examination."
"We are very proud that the highly respected Butler Group should produce such a positive technology audit on our exalead one:seach technology" explains Exalead UK and Ireland Managing Director, Raymond Bentinck. "The Butler Group saw what our burgeoning list of multi-national customers saw, that we provide a dependable key to unlocking all information, regardless of format or location."
