The Advertising Research Foundation Selects exalead one:search as Foundation for Knowledge Management Solution
October 22, 2007 - Exalead®, a global provider of search software for business and the Web, today announced that its award-winning enterprise search software platform - exalead one:search - has been selected by The Advertising Research Foundation (ARF), the premier foundation for creating, aggregating, synthesizing and sharing knowledge about and for the advertising industry.
The ARF plans to implement Exalead's enterprise and desktop search software products to improve delivery of the ARF knowledge database to marketing decision-makers whenever and wherever they need it. As a result, ARF's nearly 400 members and employees will have a single access point to its many publications, whitepapers and research, and information stored in shared drives and across secondary Web sites.
"The ARF is a perfect example of how Exalead's unified search platform can easily adapt to any environment and index documents of all sizes and formats," said François Bourdoncle, cofounder and chief executive officer, Exalead.
"With Exalead in place, we're enabling our members to find and discover the unique and valuable knowledge we possess, to evaluate it quickly and apply it to the important decisions they need to make," said Steve Rappaport, Director of Knowledge Solutions for The ARF.
The ARF Taps Exalead for Flexibility, Security and Unified User Interface
The ARF had several important requirements for selecting an enterprise search solution, three of which were critical in the selection process. The ideal solution had to leverage The ARF's existing folksonomies and not require a taxonomy to be built - an often complex and expensive process - and also offer advanced entity extraction and support for a wide range of documents and file formats.
Not only does exalead one:search meet the ARF's three most critical requirements, it also offers several innovative features, including:
- True unified access to data stored across multiple repositories, including file system, Web and database
- Smart document preview to allow users to search visually and more efficiently
- The ability to accommodate custom synonyms and furnish tools for creating custom entity extraction rules
- Full integration with third-party solutions to protect The ARF's existing IT investment
- The ability to launch a document without the need to have the associated application installed
- Security features that allow The ARF to limit or restrict sources based on a user's profile
